It is another popular place attracting tourists all year round, but the summer is the busiest season as it is a great place for swimming and camping. Received one star (★) from the Michelin Green Guide. The surrounding area is treasured as the nostalgic shooting site including the Statue of Tatsuko, made after the Legend of Princess Tatsuko, Gozanoishi Shrine, Kansagu Shrine, the camping site as well as the former elementary school (Omoidenogata Branch School), now abolished. “Lake Tazawa”, the deepest lake in Japan with the mysterious ambience, looks quite different in each season. The deep green of trees and the blue sky color the lake in summer, and the red/golden foliage reflects beautifully in fall. The surface of the lake in the morning and the evening sun is fantastically beautiful, reminding you of the Legend of Princess Tatsuko.
